These guys have been going since 1875 so they must be doing something right. We trawled through their online site to see how they were faring compared to other insurance companies on the net.

Prudential provide life insurance and investments designed to support policy holders into retirement.  Their areas of business include real estate, commercial property and institutional investment. There are corporate and personal policies.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..
The site is not quite as straight forward as others we viewed, as you need to click into the products and services tab before you can drill down to the policies on offer.  For example, it took three clicks to get to the online insurance quotes page whereas you could access Geico’s from the home page.

The site contains tools to help customers determine the correct policies as well as the cost of these.  The online form is easy to use and gives a clear printable quote.

The site is often lackluster in its presentation of information, navigation and site features, however, we have to give them their due, Prudential make a big effort when it comes to helping customers find the right deal.

Bearing in mind the complex nature of the insurance policies that Prudential have on offer the site is designed to inform and guide but is not somewhere to purchase a policy online.  The quotes are given for information only and customers are prompted to make an appointment with an agent to discuss further and make a purchase.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with videos, chat rooms, blogs, downloads, merchandise and audio..

The site lacks multimedia options but considering the efforts they have made to provide such a lot of information it lacks multimedia.  Video, audio and podcasts would be a great way to aid understanding and present quite a complex, stuffy subject in an informal and user friendly way.

This site is crying out to join the twenty-first century and needs a bit of a redesign to jolly it up and give it more dimension. It lacks graphics, audio and video.  Even the text is small and boring.
