AIG Insurance is the largest underwriter of industrial and commercial insurance in the US and has a global business presence. We wondered whether this massive multinational still had the personal touch when offering companies its range of products.  We checked out their site to find out.

The AIG auto Insurance site highlights the full range of business policies on offer but does not provide a search tool for quotations.  Contact details for local advice on the products chosen are given on each product page.

You cannot therefore get any specifics from this site, just an overview.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

The business insurance section is within the Business section of the main AIG site.  It is split into insurance and financial services and then has headings such as global benefits network, energy and environmental.

Although the navigation tool worked we found the site used quite technical language and someone from outside of the insurance field may need to trawl around a fair bit to locate the policy information they were looking for.

Just what can I insure here? This parameter evaluates the range of business and commercial insurance policies on offer at this site..

AIG insurance provides a full range of life and health related products and services to domestic and multinational employer groups of all sizes. They offer retirement planning, pension programs, special policies for ex pat employees.  They also offer professional and management liability, fidelity bonds and terrorism insurance.

This is a massive, worldwide conglomerate and their range of business products and plans is second to none.

Why is it different to other business insurance websites? We graded on originality and innovation..

The range and contents of policy is extensive but their website is very technical, product focused and dry. A good range of products deserves a better presentation and more of a common touch.

Can you contact the site with queries? This grades the email support and telephone contacts available to users..
Email, mail and phone support is provided for the local agents.  The site itself has email and phone contact details.  As the AIG site does not sell policies direct most people have queries with the agents rather than the main site.  Overall, the contacts provided are appropriate for the function of the site.
